This book is totally useless! The author has designed a program to run simulations on all possible situations that come up in the game of euchre. The problem is, he can't translate them into useable strategies. His writing is so specific as to be useless. As an example here is what he says about bidding for the novice:

When calling trump one should have a minimun of 2 trumps to the RIGHT or 3 trumps to the LEFT. Call trump with any 3 cards of the same suit if...
*you are 2 suited
*the opposition turned down the same color
*you have non-trump ACE(s)
Bidding a weak hand has the advantage of preventing your opposition from having the option of declaring trump.

Seat 1 If you are bidding from the first seat, a stronger hand is needed to order the opposition to pick up the hand.

Seat 2 To order up your partner you should have a minimum of
1) The RIGHT and another trump
2) The LEFT, another trump and a non-trump ACE
3) 3 trumps

Seat 3 Almost 3 winning tricks are needed to order the opposition to pick up the card if you play 3rd on the 1st trick for 3 reasons:
1)Your partner may not be able to lead trump, enhancing the oppositions ruffing opportunities
2)Your partner has first chance to make trump if the dealer passes
3)You can get a 2 point euchre if the dealer decided to pick it up.

I hadn't played euchre in years. This book caught me up to date on everything I had forgotten.
I wish that it had covered several additional aspects of euchre, but it was helpful and far, far better than The Columbus Book, which is so stupid that it will probably hurt your game. Euchre Stategies proves mathmatically how wrong headed the Columbus book is.
I just bought 7 of these books to give as Christmas presents to my Euchre Group. I think we can all use a little brushing up on our strategies and this book is a fun way of doing so. Great book to give as a gift or to use for yourself, easy to read and follow.
Excellence reference source.
I hadn't played Euchre for years since my college days when Euchre was the thing to do between classes in the Student Center. I got interested in playing on-line several years ago and decided to purchase this book to "refresh" my memory on the game and strategies to use while playing. 5 ***** ' on the book and POSITIVE FEEDBACK to the seller for this item.
I got this book because I was interested in using the Euchre emulator to improve my play. The Emulator that is referenced in the book is not free and you have to buy it for $25. In addition, when you download the emulator from cnet/download it tries to install other software (click next agrees that you want to install....). Bad way of doing business.

The book is just a brain dump and not a good guide for a beginner player.
He jumps around a lot and is uses different methods for examples. One time he may use player 1 and player 2 and so on, and the next time might call them the north and east players. He gives some advice that is simply hard to believe. I tried some of what I thought was odd advice playing on line against other humans and going by the book I lost more then won. I had to reread some parts many times to understand what he was trying to explain. All in all this did not help my game
