Gloriana XII--The Original Wolf of Wall Street.
In this hilarious sequel to The Mouse That Roared, Grand Fenwick is at it again, this time upsetting the world's economy. The tiny country's secret weapon this time is its Grand Pinot chewing gum. When sales boom during an anti-smoking campaign, Grand Fenwick's investment is suddenly worth millions.
In an attempt to rid Grand Fenwick of its crippling budget surplus, Duchess Gloriana XII decides the stock market is the perfect place to lose it all. Instead, she makes millions more and ends up wreaking havoc on the world economy.
Never has "the money game" been more deliciously exposed than in this ingenious satire.

Watch the movie version of The Mouse That Roared (how can you go wrong with Peter Sellers?) then read this book. The impetus of this book is a consequence of the first story, occurring 14 years after the end of the first story.
(Mouse that Roared ~ 1955 and Mouse on Wall Street ~ 1969)
In summary, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick must get rid of a large windfall of money before it destroys their entire economy.
No, you read that correctly. In the process of ridding themselves of their bundle of inflation, events snowball, and the economies of every nation on the planet threaten to collapse. (Except North Korea. Apparently, even in 1969 North Korea lacked any economy to speak of, so no change there.)
Wibberley does a great job of explaining the basic economics of inflation as well as why guaranteed minimum income not only does not eliminate poverty but actually worsens the plight of the working poor in the long run. He manages this in a hilarious manner as, to Wibberley, economics is just another human endeavor and all human endeavors are funny.
The author also shows how individuals, working separately and interpreting the best information available, actually manage to CREATE a global financial crisis.
Wibberley unintentionally shows us that, while the "times" may change (as demarcated primarily by a change in technologies used), humans and human endeavors really don't change all that much. Oh, and congratulations to all the "movers and shakers" out there. It took you almost 40 years to do it, but you finally managed to actualize an absurdist comedy written in 1969.

The Mouse On Wall Street The Grand Fenwick Series Volume 3 Leonard Wibberley 9781518741630 Books Reviews
Clever tale, told with a tickling mixture of farce and satire.
Stodgy old paperback. Too bad this hasn't been put on the screen; our Wall Street problems of the recent past would look like a piece of cake.
. . . . .
it might seem dated but it isn't. timeless thoughts on current issues.
I loved the idea of the country trying to lose money, because too much creates kaos
a must read-paul ryan should put down ayn rand and read wibberley! long live gloriana the 12th. better understanding of econ and wall street than any one in congress.
Well, Grand Fenwick is in for another crisis, this time it's financial. That American Chewing Gum business that has Grand Fenwick Pinot flavored gum is making money hand over fist and suddenly the Fenwickeans receive a million dollars in profits. At first this seems like a great idea. But then it threatens their whole way of living. How could this be? Read it and see. Be prepared for more horrors as more money comes in.
